Remember that before trading or placing your chess pieces, think about their worth and value in your particular game play because this could determine the course of your chess game play. Here are some of the tips you can consider when trading chess pieces in a chess game.

The knights are considered generally to be three pawns in value when it comes to trading chess pieces. However, knights which are positioned in the center of the chessboard can be very valuable asset in the game. Prevent your opponent’s knights from moving onto your territory because they can capture some of your valuable chess pieces in just a short time. Use your pawns as well as the bishops to keep your opponent’s knight from entering your domain, guard your squares.

Bishops are also just like the value of the knights – that is worth three pawns, when it comes to trading the chess pieces. Bishops are worth more and very valuable when they are on long diagonals, that is when their path is not obstructed by their own pawns. Therefore, while trying to have a full worth of your bishop, try to keep and block your opponent’s bishops by blocking their own pawn that is in front of them.

The rooks are the second most powerful piece in the chess game, they are worth five pawns. When the rooks control the open files they can be more valuable asset as well as the rook which has taken control the opponent’s second rank. Rooks that are on the same file or rank with no other chess pieces between them can give great advantages to chess players to gain complete control of the chess game. So, work out with your rooks to be able to gain controls in the open file and gain absolute control in the game.

The queen’s worth is the same as nine pawns. Respect your queen in the game and never put her out in the middle chess board at the start of the game because she doesn’t deserves that. As a matter of fact, it is not clever to do it, because your queen might be easily cornered and captured by your opponent resulting to an early lost of the most powerful piece on the board. You can save her later and use her to make sudden attacks with often two or more target chess pieces of your opponent at the same time. By doing so, you can take great advantages in the game play.

Chess players need to know every chess pieces worth in the chess game so that they will not make a mistake of sacrificing a valuable chess piece that will be very useful in the end game. Mostly, counting the values of all the chess pieces determine the course of the game. The more valuable a chess player’s pieces left on the board the more the chance he or she can win the chess game. Assess your chess game well and improve your game play.
